Update regarding condition of White Swan public house

The District Council is aware of the deterioration of The White Swan Public House in Newark and our teams have taken action against the building owners in an effort to see improvements to the building.

District Council proposes social housing rent for 2026 – 27

Newark and Sherwood District Council owns around 5,500 homes for social and affordable rent and remains committed to improving services for all tenants. To meet new government legislation and to support tenants to live in better homes, plans have been put in place to see significant investment in the repairs service and in building safety, alongside ongoing improvements to achieve energy efficiency targets by 2030. For these objectives to be achieved, the Council reviews its rent and service charges annually and has approved a rent increase to finance the service improvements.

Residents invited to renew or join Garden Recycling Service for 2026/27

Residents are being encouraged to recycle their garden waste responsibly by signing up to the District Council’s garden recycling service, which is now open for registrations for the 2026/27 year.

LEGO® Trail brings history to life across two Newark landmarks

Families are invited to discover Newark’s past in a fresh and playful way as the National Civil War Centre and Newark Town Hall Museum and Art Gallery launch a joint LEGO® Trail, running from Saturday 14 February to Saturday 18 April 2026.
