Update: Monday 12 May 2025

Newark Castle Gatehouse project update: Monday 12 May 2025

In advance of upcoming renovation work at Newark Caste, several preparatory activities will be taking place throughout May to ensure that the site, its surroundings, and all personnel are ready for the next phase. You can expect to see the following:

14 - 15 May
A mobile elevating work platform (MEWP) will be on-site to allow contractors to carry out an inspection of the northwest tower roof.

16 May
A large lorry will conduct a dry-run delivery to test access routes and turning space. This will involve temporary vehicle movements in and out of the site during the morning.

20 May
An arborist will attend the site to work alongside contractors in marking out root protection zones. These zones are critical for ensuring that all trees surrounding the castle are properly protected throughout the duration of the conservation work.

Date TBC
Ahead of 16 May, some light pruning and lifting will be carried out on trees near the southern entrance to the gardens. No trees will be removed, or harmed during this process.

Visitor Safety
Temporary fencing may be installed at various points around the site to protect both visitors and the structure during these works. We kindly ask all visitors to observe any fencing and safety signage in place. These measures are in place solely for public safety and site protection.

Further updates will be shared in due course.
