Free advice sessions return to support Newark and Sherwood businesses
Posted on: Friday, July 11, 2025Local businesses in Newark and Sherwood are once again being offered the chance to access expert advice and guidance to help them grow and thrive.
Following the success of previous Business Surgery sessions, two new dates have been announced:
- Thursday 17th July at Edwinstowe House, Edwinstowe, NG21 9PR
- Thursday 11th September at Gusto House, Green Way, Collingham, NG23 7DX
Business owners will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with Dawn Fear, an experienced business advisor, for tailored support on how to develop and strengthen their business. Each session lasts one hour and is designed to provide practical, actionable advice.
There are seven slots available on each day, running between 9am and 4:45pm, and follow-up sessions are also available to ensure continued support.
The surgery is aimed at established businesses that have been trading for three years and above. For more information and to book your sessions, please contact Will Parkinson by emailing will.parkinson@newark-sherwooddc.gov.uk.
Councillor Claire Penny, Portfolio Holder for Sustainable Economic Development at Newark and Sherwood District Council, said: “We’re really pleased to once again offer local businesses the chance to access free, tailored support through our Business Support Surgery sessions. These one-to-one meetings with Dawn Fear, an experienced and highly regarded Business Advisor, are a fantastic opportunity for business owners to get advice that’s specific to their goals and challenges. If you think this could benefit your business, I’d strongly encourage you to book a slot soon, as places are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
“At Newark and Sherwood District Council, we’re committed to helping our local business community grow and succeed. These surgeries are just one part of a much wider package of support we offer - from grant finding and property searches to expert-led events and workshops throughout the year. If you’re looking for guidance, our team is here to help.”
These Business Surgeries are part of Newark and Sherwood District Council’s wider programme of support for local businesses. This includes a free Grant Finder search service to help identify relevant funding opportunities and business support schemes, as well as commercial property search assistance for those looking to launch or expand their business. Throughout the year, the Council also hosts workshops and events, including the annual Economic Growth Conference, offering expert-led advice across a range of industries.
